Principal's Message
Dear Mattie Families,

Happy September! As we enter the second month of school I am excited to begin our monthly "Coffee with the Principal" meetings. These gatherings provide an excellent opportunity for you to stay connected with our school community, stay up to date on events and much more. Please save the date for this year's first Coffee with the Principal on Wednesday, September 11th! You can also share your valuable insights, and collaborate on important decisions that impact our students' education by joining our School Site Council. More information to come soon, so be on the lookout in ParentSquare.
 

Drop-Off & Pick-Up Guidelines

School begins at 8:20 AM and the warning bell rings at 8:17 AM. Our gates open for student drop-off beginning at 7:45 AM. We ask you please do not drop off before 7:45 AM, as there is no supervision before.

Please comply with all traffic signs and staff requests to ensure a safe and swift drop-off for our students.

As a friendly reminder, when picking up your student through the circles, we ask you to please stay in your vehicle and a staff member will bring your student to you. Do not leave your vehicle unattended.

Did you get Fingerprinted?

Mattie Washburn is securing a master list of those parents/grandparents who were fingerprinted AND have been cleared. If you were fingerprinted, please email Gladys Medrano @ gmedrano@wusd.org with your full name and DOB. Should you have been cleared, you will receive an email from Gladys advising of clearance to volunteer at Mattie! A Livescan application has been attached for your reference. 

Please note: If you work for SCOE (Sonoma County of Education) or WUSD, and would like to volunteer, please email Gladys Medrano to be added to our Mattie List!

From the Health Office

Our Mattie Health Office is asking for donations of clothes, shoes and undergarments. Anything is better than nothing! If you have anything to donate, please drop it off to our front office. We appreciate and thank you in advance!

Independent Studies Procedure

Families, as we kick off 2024, we want to remind you about the option of Short Term Independent Study. Requesting and completing a Short Term Independent Study keeps a student up to date on classroom assignments and essential learnings and allows the district to keep the student in average daily attendance reports.
Included are below are the guidelines for Short Term Independent Study. Please review them carefully:
  • Request a Short Term Independent Study by calling or coming into the school office at least 5 days prior to the first expected date of absence.
  • The Request will be reviewed by the Principal or her designee for approval. The Office will notify you whether the Independent Study was approved or not by the Principal or her designee.
  • If a student is below grade level, they may not be eligible.
  • If a student had an incomplete Independent Study Contract in the past, they may not be eligible.
  • Contracts are issued for a minimum of 3 school days and a maximum of 15 school days absent. 
  • If approved, the teacher will compile student work and send it home with the student the last school day before their independent study begins.
  • Students must turn in all completed work on the first day of return to school for absences to be cleared and to avoid truancy procedures.
