Dear Families:
We are writing today to share with you that a threat was reported involving Windsor High School this morning. Law enforcement became aware of a potential threat which had been posted by a student privately on social media. The social media company flagged a key phrase, and contacted law enforcement, who took immediate action. While the investigation is ongoing, it appears that there was no actual threat, merely a child making a poor choice at humor and an exaggerated expression of frustration to two friends, not realizing that other people could see the post.
We appreciate the swift actions of law enforcement in responding, and are thankful for their partnership and support. Out of an abundance of caution, the student was removed from campus and arrested. However, as there was never any credible threat to the school, staff, or students, and the school day continued as normal. Similarly, as there was no credible threat, on the advice of law enforcement, the school was not put into lockdown.
We would like to remind students that some things are never funny, and will be taken very, very seriously. Please think twice before making jokes related to school shootings, and understand that such jokes can have very serious consequences.
